smoking – do not, under any circumstances, smoke in any of the cabins. we have had anglers smoking cigarettes and cannabis in our lodge and pods, apart from it being a fire hazard it “stinks” and anglers who are booked in there after have, quite rightly, complained of the lingering smells. or the mead as it is affectionately known is a very picturesque and private 3 acre lake set in a total of 7 acres of its own grounds. we are situated in the glorious wiltshire countryside and are conveniently located close to royal wootton bassett, chippenham, malmesbury & the m4, with excellent access from london and the south west of england. over the years the owner of olivemead has strived to create a carp water which caters for both carp fishing holidays and now offers the best specimen carp fishing holidays in the southwest of england which is why has become the uk’s number one premiere ‘big’ carp fishing holiday venue. we strongly believe that there isn’t another “carp holiday venue” in britain which holds as many 20lb, 30lb and even 40lb carp per acre as the mead does and they are growing all the time. stocking levels stocking levels at the mead are awesome!!!! we have around 160 king carp which reside in the main lake and of these there are more than 100 different 20lb+ carp, 37 different 30lb+ carp and 4 different 40′s with the current lake record being a huge mirror carp of 46.4oz. we have some awesome specimen tench going over the 10lb+ mark and pike which exceed 20lb+. we do have silver fish present in the mead however along with the smaller carp these are removed every 2 years following our comprehensive management programme and de-stocking programmes which allows our remaining specimen carp and tench to flourish. there are no bream present in the mead! if you break our stock of carp down per acre of water we hold around 35 x 20lb+, 12 x 30lb+ and 1 x 40lb+ carp per 1 acre of water, there’s not very many carp venues in the whole of the u.k. which can boast that level of big carp. facilities we have swims to accommodate up to 5-6 anglers only and there are a few ways to fish at the mead, you can book one of our luxury cabins/lodges ( see carp holiday section ), book a luxury pod ( see carp holiday section ) or bivvy up in one of our clean, large purpose-built swims ( see carp holiday section ). for those anglers choosing to bivvy up there is a separate toilet and shower block. bait here at the mead we have our own boilies rolled for us to my own specification which are of the highest quality hnv base ingredients with various flavours and enhancers added all centred around the health of our carp. our carp pellets are again produced using the highest standard hnv ingredients and will not be found anywhere on the open market. we also feed in a very high nutritional value feed boilie which again is designed around the carps digestive system enabling the carp to absorb maximum micro and macro nutrients along with all the bulk nutrients they require. all my bait/food items are fed into the mead regularly twice per week throughout the year which keeps the carp healthy and hungry which in turn adds weight and gives us the phenomenal growth increases which the mead carp are experiencing. so if you are looking for an intimate carp water which isn’t pressured, only has a handful of anglers on each day and holds a large head of huge carp then believe me you will not find a better lake and you will definitely not be disappointed when you visit the mead.
